BEFORE YOUR SURGERY

Booking your surgery

If you require surgery, we can, if you wish, book it on the day of your initial consultation. You will be given the relevant information to take home and review, along with an outline of the associated costs.

You will also be invited to complete a Consent Form and a Hospital Booking Form. You may be required to undertake particular pre-operative tests or asked to attend a Pre-Admission Clinic.

If you elect to be treated through the public system, you will be added to Dr Chia’s waiting list at the Northern Beaches Hospital. The hospital will notify you when a date is available.

Preparing for your surgery

In order to optimise your surgical outcome, we invite you to look after yourself prior to your surgery.

We highly recommend you:

• Relax as much as possible on the day before your surgery
  
• Follow a diet very low in sugar and high in protein
  
• Take high dose vitamin C (500 mg) for 6 weeks following surgery
  
• Stop smoking as early as possible before and after surgery

Please advise Dr Chia of any blood thinning medications, diabetes medications or any natural therapy preparations you are taking as some of these may need to be stopped prior to surgery.

You must also ensure that you have someone with you for a full 24 hours after surgery and the appropriate amount of ongoing care and support.
