I am passionate about staying ‘ahead of the game’ so you are getting the best of me and the ‘world’s best’ in surgical techniques.

My consistent focus is in minimally invasive and cutting edge techniques for the treatment of arthritis, instability, rotator cuff tear, fractures and other less common shoulder and elbow disorders.

Growing up in Sydney, I was always interested in keeping fit and participated in a wide variety of sports - resulting in my fair share of sporting injuries.

This led me to studying Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney as I was really keen to explore how to make valuable changes to a person’s quality of life, including my own! Once I graduated, I was involved in providing physio support to a number of rugby, netball, soccer and water polo teams, at both club and state level.

After several years practising as a Physiotherapist, I felt that I could make a greater contribution by studying Medicine; not a decision to be taken lightly as it took a further 15 years of study to become a fully qualified Orthopaedic surgeon.

I completed my Medical degree at the University of Sydney graduating with Honours and completed my Basic Surgical Training and Advanced Surgical Training in Orthopaedic Surgery on the Sydney training scheme.

However, for me it was vital that I invested in a further year of specialised study, training initially under Dr Laurent Lafosse, an acclaimed pioneer in shoulder surgery at the Alps Surgery Institute, Clinique Générale in Annecy, France. It also meant that my wife and three sons enjoyed the beauty and charm of Annecy whilst I studied – no complaints from them.

This experience qualified me as a Fellowship-trained Shoulder and Elbow surgeon and skilled me in the most current arthroscopic and open surgical techniques. Dr Laurent Lafosse invented amongst other techniques, the Arthroscopic Latarjet Procedure for shoulder instability, and the arthroscopic Suprascapular nerve release.

Whilst in France, I helped organise and demonstrated at the 5th Annecy Live Surgery International Shoulder Advanced Course which hosted over 1000 participants from 57 different countries. Today, I follow my mentor’s ethos and continue to push the envelope of what can be achieved with an arthroscope.

After France, my family and I moved to the UK so I could receive further subspecialty training in Shoulder and Elbow surgery at the Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust. I also visited and learned from other internationally renowned Shoulder and Elbow surgeons in the UK, South Africa and the United States.

Today, as a member of the Australian Orthopaedic Association, I am committed to providing you with the highest possible standard of Orthopaedic care. I am actively involved in my own research; have published articles in peer-reviewed journals and been an invited speaker at national and international meetings.

I am accredited at Sydney Adventist Hospital, Mater Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital.

When not at work, I relax by surfing and enjoying my beautiful and understanding family.
